Privacy policy
Last updated 22 September 2026
The short version: Yearless has no accounts. Your workouts, results and progress photos are stored on your phone, not on our servers, and the camera video used to count your reps is never uploaded. To see how the app is used, we use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, without advertising IDs and without your name, birthday or photos. We never sell your data.
1. Who we are
Yearless is a fitness app that counts your reps with your phone’s camera. In this policy, “Yearless”, “we” and “us” mean [Company legal name], [Company address]. We are responsible for the personal data described here.
This policy covers the Yearless app for iOS and Android and the yearless.app website. Questions: contact@yearless.app.
2. What stays on your phone
There is no sign-up and no account. Everything below is stored only on your device. We don’t receive it and can’t see it.
- Date of birth and sex. Fitness age and the 60-second test compare your results with people of your age and sex.
- Weight, if you track it.
- Test results, including your fitness age and the scores behind it.
- Workouts: rep counts (clean and partial), times, the counts you confirmed or corrected, and how hard a session felt.
- Your streak, streak freeze, 30-day challenge progress and lifetime totals.
- App settings, such as your reminder time, workout level and units.
Progress photos
Progress photos are saved on your phone and to your phone’s own photo library. We never receive them.
Rep clips
If “Record my sets” is switched on in Settings, the last few seconds of a set are saved as a video file on your phone, so you have a clip to share if you want one. Only the most recent clips are kept; older ones are deleted automatically. Clips never leave your phone unless you share one yourself. You can switch recording off at any time.
Backups
So a new phone doesn’t lose your records, your phone may back up the app’s data to your iCloud or Google account using its own backup settings. Those backups are held by Apple or Google under your account, not by us. You can also save a copy of everything with Export my data in Settings.
3. What we collect
How the app is used
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to count what happens in the app, so we can see where people get stuck and what to fix. It receives:
- Which screens are opened.
- Events such as finishing a test or workout, correcting a count, viewing the purchase screen, the outcome of a purchase or restore, and exporting something to share.
- Numbers attached to those events, such as the move, the rep count, workout length and level, your fitness age and how far it is above or below your actual age. Your date of birth itself is never sent.
- Information Firebase collects automatically: a random app-instance ID, device model, operating system and app version, language, and approximate country or region worked out from your IP address.
We use Microsoft Clarity to see how people move through the app: taps, scrolls and what is on screen. Clarity is paused on every screen that can show the camera, a progress photo or a clip, so it never records your body, your photos or your clips.
Neither service receives your name, email address, photos or camera video, and the advertising ID is switched off. This information isn’t linked to anything that identifies you by name.
Purchases
Premium is a one-time purchase made through Apple or Google. The app checks it on your phone with the store. Apple and Google send us sales reports, but we never receive your card or payment details.
Support emails
When you email us, we receive your email address and what you write. Emails sent from the app also include the app version and your phone’s operating system version.
The website
yearless.app uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, which set cookies to count visits and show how pages are used, such as clicks and scrolling. You can block or delete cookies in your browser.
4. What we don’t collect
- Camera video used for counting. Rep counting runs entirely on your phone. That video is never uploaded.
- Audio. The app does not use your microphone.
- Your name, email address or an account of any kind, unless you email us.
- Your precise location, contacts or other apps’ data.
- Advertising identifiers. There are no ads in Yearless.
5. How we use data
- To improve the app: find where people drop off, which features are used and where the camera miscounts. This is in our legitimate interest.
- To answer support requests.
- To meet legal obligations, such as tax records for sales.
Reminders are scheduled on your phone. No notification token is sent to us or anyone else.
6. Fitness data
Some of what you record, such as test results, workouts, weight and progress photos, may count as health data in some places. It stays on your phone. The only fitness figures that leave it are the numbers in the analytics events described in section 3, which aren’t linked to your name. We never sell fitness data, never use it for advertising and never share it with employers, insurers or data brokers.
7. Who we share data with
We don’t sell your personal data or share it for targeted advertising. Data goes only to:
- Google (Google Analytics for Firebase) and Microsoft (Clarity), which process it for us as described in section 3.
- Apple and Google, which process purchases and, if you have backups switched on, store your phone’s backups. Their own privacy policies apply to what they do.
- Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect the safety, rights or property of our users or others.
- A buyer or successor, if Yearless is sold or merged. This policy would continue to apply, and we would say so in the app before it changed.
When you share a result card, rep clip or transformation reel, it goes wherever you choose to send it. What happens next is up to that app or person.
8. Where data is stored
Your records and photos are stored on your phone, and in your iCloud or Google backup if you use one. Analytics data is stored by Google and Microsoft, which may process it in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, for example for data from the EEA or UK, those transfers are covered by safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. How it’s protected
- Your records and photos are protected by your phone’s own lock and encryption.
- Analytics data is encrypted in transit.
- Access to analytics inside Yearless is limited to people who need it.
No system is perfectly secure. Anyone who can unlock your phone can open the app, so keep your phone locked.
10. How long it’s kept
- On your phone: until you delete the app or its data. Deleting the app deletes its records. Photos saved to your photo library and your phone backups stay until you delete them there.
- Google Analytics: event data is kept for [14 months].
- Microsoft Clarity: recordings are kept for about 30 days, and summary data for up to 13 months.
- Support emails: for as long as we need them to help you, then deleted.
- Sales records: for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
11. Your rights and choices
Most of your data never reaches us, so you control it directly:
- See and correct your date of birth, sex and weight in the app.
- Get a copy with Export my data in Settings.
- Delete it by deleting the app, the photos in your photo library and any phone backups.
- Stop rep clips by switching off Record my sets.
- Turn off reminders in the app or your phone’s settings.
For analytics data, email contact@yearless.app. Because it isn’t linked to your name, we may need your help to find it, and in some cases we won’t be able to. We reply within 30 days.
EEA and UK
You also have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing and to data portability. Our legal bases are our legitimate interests (understanding and improving the app), your consent where the law requires it, and legal obligations. You can complain to your local data protection authority.
California and other US states
You have the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it and to not be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
12. Children
Yearless is for adults aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a child has used Yearless and sent us data, email contact@yearless.app and we will delete what we hold.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
